Theme
"After the Deconstruction and Reconstruction" is generally interpreted as breaking down a whole into its parts and reassembling them into a new structure. In the field of visual communication design, it is defined as breaking down the composition into essential elements and reassembling them into a new form and expression through the designer's creative imagination. This approach helps designers create productive and unique works and convey different expressive intentions by restructuring stereotyped images. This theme can also be seen as a reinterpretation and reorganization of traditional design concepts by exploring their structure and characteristics through deconstruction and generating new forms and interpretive ideas through reconstruction. This approach enables designers to gain a deep understanding of the essence of design elements while enhancing the innovation and practicality of the design. The 2023 ICWVCD International Academic Conference, Workshop, & Forum will explore the theme of "After Deconstruction and Reconstruction," attempting to inspire attendees to gain a deeper understanding of the essence of visual composition elements and generate valuable and influential research and works.
In the digital age, the concepts of deconstruction and reconstruction have accompanied the development of digital technology. Due to the need for digital assistance, many use deconstruction and reconstruction to generate innovative ideas. On the other hand, the concept of reconstruction prompts researchers and designers to combine elements meaningfully and create entirely different ordered components. This approach can help designers precisely control the structure and form of digital content, thereby improving its design effectiveness and value. Deconstruction and reconstruction are a way of thinking and a method that can be applied to various academic research topics, such as science, social science, humanity, and design. In academic research, deconstruction and reconstruction can be used to analyze and study complex problems and phenomena to find their essence and elements. This process is similar to induction and deduction in the scientific method, helping researchers understand the problem and discover causal relationships, thereby proposing corresponding research hypotheses or theoretical models. In addition, deconstruction and reconstruction can be used to explore the impact and correlation between various occurrences. For example, in discussing social issues, researchers can deconstruct social phenomena into units to be conducive and discover overlooked details. Researchers can recombine these elements to analyze and predict social change trends through a structured approach.
“After Deconstruction and Reconstruction” is similar to an important step in design thinking, “decomposition," which involves breaking down complex problems into simpler ones to gain an understanding and process ideas. Moreover, "After Deconstruction and Reconstruction" also emphasizes a developmental technique in design thinking, a change in sequence. In this process, design follows a similar sequence, problem analysis, problem definition, problem-solving, testing, and evaluation. The difference lies in the thinking of leaps and deductions, but the design goal to achieve is common and non-change.

Speaker Introduction
Jang Sung Hwan, director of Infographics Lab 203, specializes in infographics and communication design. He graduated from Hongik University, Master of Fine Art. He is not only the director of Infographics Lab 203 and the publisher of culture monthly magazine “Street H.” Professor Jang opened Infographics Lab 203 in 2012, specializing in the research and design of the infographic. In 2018, his work "Overseas Travel Packing" won the bronze medal of the 26th Malofiej Award in the infographic category, which conveyed and reminded travelers of many preparations to be aware of before going abroad. In Professor Jang's design theory, information such as text, images, sound, and video, have already been formed in our daily life. But if the visual information can be utilized well, it will effectively lower the barrier between geography and language and accurately convey the intended content. Through posters, catalogs, packaging, digital interfaces, social networks, or games. If one can master infographic design and use it effectively, it will significantly reduce the burden of message comprehension for users and ensure the accuracy of message delivery.
